Welcome to The Joyfully Imperfect!
I hope you will feel at home here…
This blog exists for…
…those of us who strive daily but have yet to get it all together.
…those of us who are failing to be and do #allthethings for #allthepeople.
…those of us drowning in feelings of inadequacy and discouragement.
…those of us who live in a constant state of “overwhelm”.
…those of us who feel like we’re the only ones not #winning at life.
If this is you, then you’re in the right place. And I have the best news for you: YOU . ARE . ENOUGH!!!
You are not perfect now and you will never be perfect. And guess what?!? That’s okay. You are IMPERFECT but you are ENOUGH… isn’t that so beautifully freeing? In fact, your weaknesses and imperfections are a wonderful thing. They give God room to not only fill in the gaps, but to shine through all of the cracks and broken parts of your life. From this perspective, your imperfections and not “enoughness” are actually something to be thankful for. Even JOYFUL over.
This is the heart behind this blog and this is where I’m striving to live every single day…in JOYFUL IMPERFECTION! It’s a biblical concept. In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Paul wrote about his weaknesses:
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
As a pastor’s wife and mother of four, I completely understand and relate to all of the feelings of inadequacy that we battle every.single.day. Most days, I can give you a running list of all of the ways I’ve been a bad mom, a selfish wife, a terrible friend or a lazy Christian. I can list all of the things I’ve failed at, forgotten to do, done the wrong way, not shown up for,… and the list goes on and on.
Daily, we are hit with messages that confirm our worst fears- we are not enough. Whether it’s in your marriage, your parenting, your faith, or any other aspect of life, you are probably hearing the messages loud and clear:
- YOU ARE FAILING!
- YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH!
- SHE CAN DO THIS BETTER THAN YOU!
This blog exists to offer insight, encouragement, and Biblical truth to those who are in the midst of the struggle. Because let’s be honest, #thestruggleisreal. And the struggle is worse when we feel like we’re in it alone. The joy comes when we walk this road of embracing our imperfections together. Let’s create a community who is quick to be transparent in our weaknesses and slow to judge others in theirs.
My hope is that you will find God here. That you will catch a glimpse of His perspective and it will truly change the way you see yourself and others. That it will help you see His hand more clearly in your life. And in turn, it will change the way you choose to see and live out each day.
I pray you find PEACE, FREEDOM and JOY in this place.
